About BrainTech 2025

Why BrainTech? Why Now?

Rachel Slattery and TeamSlatts have spent the past two decades joining the dots between curious minds and frontier technologies through longstanding, community-led events like Tech23 and Agile Australia.

Their latest venture, Silver Futures, set out to reimagine ageing and at the heart of our silver futures lies our brain health.

This focus led to BrainTech – because technology can play a powerful role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cognitive decline and dementia. Across the lifespan, numerous interventions can help us discover, manage, treat, and even prevent neurological and psychiatric conditions.

We believe innovation walks on two legs – it’s all about the people. That’s why BrainTech 2025 aims to bring together Australia’s best and brightest researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to learn from each other and explore what’s possible.

We’re passionate about the potential for BrainTech to nurture brain health, support mental well-being, and extend our healthspan – empowering all of us to live longer, healthier, and more connected lives.

The Tech is Here

Neurotech is transforming how we understand, monitor, and enhance brain function. From AI-powered diagnostics to brain-computer interfaces, the field is advancing rapidly.

The Need is Here

Brain disorders account for over 15% of global disability, costing Australia billions annually. Psychological health claims in Australian workplaces have surged nearly 40% since 2017.

The Challenge is Here

Australia produces world-class neuroscience research, ranking in the global top 10 for research output, but struggles to translate these breakthroughs into commercial success. In 2023, UNESCO noted that Australia lags behind in translating neurotech knowledge into patents and scalable innovations.

Swim out of your lane for a day and explore the possibilities of Australian-created BrainTech in a global market. This is a space where crossing boundaries matters; where discoveries in one field might unlock breakthroughs in another. Set in the heart of Melbourne’s biomedical precinct, BrainTech 2025 will delve into the intersections of neuroscience, technology, mental health, and innovation, bringing together researchers, startups, investors, and changemakers to shape a collaborative future for brain and mind health.

TeamSlatts who is convening BrainTech 2025 acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Countries on which we gather for our events. We recognise the sovereignty, knowledge and community of First Peoples and pay our respects to the Ancestors and Elders who pave the way for future Leaders.

We walk with great reverence on the various places TeamSlatts live, work and visit. Always was, always will be.
